Day 7 - Stilled and Quieted
I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. - Psalm 131:2
The raging waves of the world’s worries crash against the shore of our soul. At work, you may face missed deadlines or mismanagement of money. At home, you may be dealing with miscommunication with your wife or a challenging child. Life is loud, and sometimes its deafening tones drown out our trust in God. Only in silence can our Savior Jesus revive our soul. He works wonders when we wait before him. We are lost without Christ, but his grace soothes and calms our soul.
Calm and contentment come forth by faith when we are still and quiet before Christ. Therefore, by God’s grace, remain childlike in your faith and character. Keep your heart humble and honest. Like little ones look to their mothers for comfort and security, look to your Savior Jesus for his quiet confidence and strength. A heart kept by Christ lives for Christ. Yes, settle your soul in stillness and solitude with Jesus.
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”- Isaiah 66:13
Lord, in the chaos of life, still my restless soul and quiet my anxious thoughts. Help me find refuge in your presence, where peace reigns supreme. Grant me the serenity to trust your sovereignty and the patience to wait upon your timing. In your calm, I find rest. Amen.
