Day 5 - Cut Free

“The Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.” - Psalm 129:4

Christ cuts us free from the cords of wicked oppressors. It may seem like the wicked have won at times, but this is the testing of our trust. God may use the obstinate as a discipline to break our pride and smooth the edges of our ego. Then we can see those who oppose righteous ways as instruments of the Lord to instruct us in how to live by faith.

You may have a family member whose faith is a facade. If so, serve them with authentic and unselfish living. Pray their disingenuous life will lose its appeal and that they will be free from living a caricature of Christianity. We have been cut free by Christ, freed to serve him and others.

Does a secret sin hold you back from enjoying all that Jesus has to give you? If so, seek out his forgiveness and healing. Submit yourself to the accountability of other Christ followers. Like a helium balloon released from its ties to the ground, you can be released from earthly weights that hold you down. Go to God and receive his freeing grace.

Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. - Romans 6:22

Lord, I thank you for setting me free from the bondage of sin. Grant me strength to resist temptation and walk in your ways. May your grace empower me to live a life that is pleasing to you and reflects your love and righteousness to the world. Amen.
