Day 7 - Called to Fellowship
Scripture Reading:(Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
(Proverbs 27:17) 17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
One of the greatest lies men believe is that strength means independence.
Many men isolate themselves emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. They convince themselves they don't need help, accountability, encouragement, or friendship. Yet Scripture paints a very different picture.
Ecclesiastes tells us that two are better than one because they help one another, lift one another up, and strengthen one another. Proverbs reminds us that iron sharpens iron.
God never intended for us to follow Him alone.
Throughout Scripture, we see men walking together. Moses had Aaron. David had Jonathan. Paul had Timothy. Jesus had His disciples.
Healthy fellowship provides encouragement during difficult seasons, accountability when we drift, wisdom when we're confused, and support when we're weary. Fellowship reminds us we are not alone in the fight.
A friend of mine often says, "When you need a friend, it's too late to make one."
Many men wait until crisis arrives before pursuing meaningful relationships. But the time to build strong friendships is before they're needed.
As we prepare for the Act Like Men Conference, let's consider whether we are living in biblical community or simply living in proximity to other people.
Godly men need God's Word, God's Spirit, and God's people.
Reflection:
Who am I doing life with?
Who knows my heart and can speak truth into my life?
Who am I encouraging, sharpening, and investing in?
What step can I take toward deeper biblical fellowship?
Prayer: Lord, bring godly men into my life who will encourage, sharpen, and strengthen me as I follow You. Help me become the kind of man who does the same for others.
Key Verse: Proverbs 27:17 - "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
Final Prayer: Lord, thank You for the men we have studied this week. Thank You for pursuing us like Zacchaeus, calling us like Matthew, restoring us like Peter, and commissioning us like Paul. As we prepare for the Act Like Men Conference, make us men who love deeply, lead courageously, provide faithfully, protect sacrificially, and live in authentic fellowship with others. May we become more like Jesus and help others do the same. In Jesus' name, Amen.
